grandma's favorite chair

grandma's favorite chair

This weekend, I saw a familiar knick-knack among grandma's books. A wooden cat, and from his mouth, a wooden mouse suspended by a leather tail. I picked it up for the first time in over 40 years, the memories rushing back. I asked if anyone else wanted it instead. No, they all insisted that it should be mine.

Welcome home Val. My brother used to live in Paradise, CA. He lives in Gualala now.

I remember my gramma's favorite chair, too. We would rock in it together and sing The Bear Went Over the Mountain...well, until I was just a bit older, ya know?

thanks Nonie, I love the little town of Paradise, such a peaceful place.

Dilling, such a nice memory, thanks for sharing it!

Isn't it amazing how a once familiar but forgotten object, like the wooden cat that you describe, can suddenly eliminate the gulf of time?

These images and your thoughts are a wonderful tribute.
