sumo

But that cat will stay deep under the covers until morning, blankets piled on, never on my legs, but always fully alongside.

Here's the bedtime routine, I'll be reading, the cat looking for the entrance, Fred will lift all the covers for the cat, and I'll complain, "...no, not fur to skin" and I'll create an alternative opening between layers.

It's not that's he's not clean, he's an indoor cat, I just don't want the cat touching me that close. It's enough he insists on constant contact with me all through the night, even when it gets far too hot. The trouble is this cat insists on licking. He won't do it to anyone else, just me. The undersides of my knees and insides of my elbows are his favorite spots. He'll lick until he falls asleep and makes a soggy mess. But just a sheet or blanket layer between us--and I can sleep in peace. Silly cat!

One of our cats sleeps right next to my husband, all night. The other generally doesn't hang with us, in bed. So I am free from cat attention. Probably because I barrel-roll, in my sleep, so no cat wants any part of me.

ahh, the barrel-roll, that explains it. Nice to see you Christine!

I love cats. They give us such pleasure. I really love the lighting in this photo. I presume you use an external light......it is so dark here all the time I have difficulty getting viable TtV photos in a day.

annabelle, it was blackberries today in the studio and he made himself quite comfortable near the bowl and licked each one....darn cat!

travelma, to get the cat through ttv (through the viewfinder) indoors I'm always between the cat and the lightsource, so there's not backlighting, otherwise it's quite difficult indoors. In this case, there is the overhead kitchen light making a halo, and the full light is from the kitchen back doors at my back. You need lots of light. As always my f/stop is set wide open (f/3.5) so the shutter is as fast as possible. Keep trying!

We haven't a cat..the story about the licking would explain why...please forgive me, kitties but I am not a cat person. I've loved looking at your past photo posts, Val. Beautiful!

I have a Jack Russell like that. Wakes me up - never the husband you understand - with her panting because she's too hot. She's not spoilt or anything.... Our two cats don't really get a look in. :o)

We had a cat that was a kneader/drooler - a thoroughly disgusting habit. He preferred the inside of my upper arm, so I had to be very careful to protect my arms in bed.

Bev, oh no, your pup isn't spoiled, hehe!

Rain, very funny, I'm having my ownn cat doubts!

magpie, yes that's what it is, a kneading/drooling thing. I figured as a young kitten he would outgrow it, so I allowed it. Now 4 years later he's hooked!

that's sweet AND funny! I used to have a cat that wanted to sleep above/on top of my head at night.

Jake (my pup) doesn't like covers, but he does do the inside of elbow etc. licking thing. I keep telling him I am NOT his personal salt-lick!
